About

Alex Briggs is a versatile trial and appellate lawyer and a partner in the firm. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, shareholder and partnership disputes, torts, construction litigation, trust and estate contests, and constitutional matters. He approaches every case with a strategy geared towards winning at trial and building leverage to produce the best resolution possible for his clients. He has employed this strategy as first chair trial and appellate attorney in state and federal courts, and routinely achieves multi-million-dollar resolutions for his clients, whether in court, arbitration, or negotiation. Notable successes include:

  • Trial Judgment in favor of a CEO who was wrongfully terminated by a company’s board of directors. Recovered damages and attorney’s fees on behalf of the client and defeated all of the board’s counterclaims.
  • Arbitration Award in favor of a builder against business partners for breach of a right of first refusal to complete numerous construction projects.
  • Multi-million-dollar judgment in favor of law enforcement officers against a medical services provider for negligently causing a COVID outbreak. Pursued the provider through insolvency and recovered substantially all of the provider’s assets for the benefit of the client.
  • Negotiated multi-million-dollar settlement for wrongfully disinherited children of a Florida farmer following extensive litigation and a successful appeal. Further protected trust assets from the trustee’s waste through fiduciary litigation while the will and trust contest was pending.

Alex grew up in a small town in Kansas where he learned the value of hard work, humility, and integrity. Alex earned his Bachelor’s degree from Pittsburg State University (located in Pittsburg, Kansas). He then served two years in the Peace Corps in Kazakhstan. Upon returning from the Peace Corps, Alex worked in the New York City public schools. He then attended law school at Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Seton Hall Circuit Review, competed in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, and graduated cum laude.

Alex began his legal career in his home state of Kansas where he practiced primarily in commercial and real estate litigation, and also handled bankruptcy, tort, probate, and civil rights cases, before moving to Florida in 2015.

Alex has found that his experiences all over the world have broadened his perspectives and assist him in crafting his case-specific strategies. The principles of hard work and integrity that carried him around the globe serve his clients well. He is a zealous advocate who fights hard for his clients and takes pride in his work.
